Many able bodied members of our community/society take for granted the everyday activities that face us on a day to day basis. However for a person with an acquired brain injury the daily tasks of living, such as shopping, banking, medical appointments, entertainment etc can be daunting experiences.
Whether due to physical limitations, communication difficulties or social inhibition many of our clients require assistance and retraining to reintegrate into society and community activities. Headway provides our clients with specifically trained support workers to assist with the tasks of everyday living and the reintegration back into the community setting.
Community access can include tasks such as shopping, appointments, banking as well as leisure and entertainment activities such as movies, bowling, fitness, meals out and general integration with the general public. Acceptance by the general public can play a major role in the building of self esteem and self image for a person with an acquired brain injury.
